With the fall semester well underway, I felt it was time to make a new post for my website.
What have I been up to?
Lately, I’ve been working on a few small Unity tools/libraries and adding those to GitHub. Below I’ll provide a brief description of each package and a link to them on Github.
- ACTools: Core – A collection of extension methods, events, and other bits of utility.
- ACTools: Saving – A small library for saving game data at runtime.
- ACTools: Time Tracking – A library for time tracking tools with extendibility in mind.
- ACTools: Debug Console – A runtime console where devs can add custom commands.
If you’ve read my previous posts, you may have noticed that the DataManager/CSVObjectManager tool is not mentioned above. There is good reasoning for this. With this being my last year in college, I want to be able to work on smaller side projects while having the majority of my focus on my classes.
What this means that the CSVObjectManager is just too big of a project for me to handle alongside everything else. I may come back to it later, but it’s on the back burner for now.
What am I doing now?
As I said above, this is my final year of college. With that, comes all of the remaining classes I need to graduate, including my senior game capstone. My capstone will likely take up most of my time as the semester continues. I’ll be making small tweaks and improves to my existing Unity tools. If I have other tool ideas, I might work on those as well.
Lastly, I’ll be applying for game design positions at various studios to get a job after I graduate. The game industry seems to be doing well, considering the state of some other industries, so I have some hope I’ll be able to find something.
I’m not sure when my next post will be, so follow me on twitter for more constant updates.
